I no longer have pure bred Ameraucana Chickens ,,,,, I do have a (EE Ameraucana) cross breed that I have been working with :::: I crossed my Ameraucana Roo's over Golden Comet Hens ,, which gives you a big hen that lays a green egg and lots of them (The Ameraucana is not good in egg production). The Golden Comet is a cross between a Rohde Island Red Roo and White Rock Hen and is a egg machine that lays year around !! All my birds are free range , plus feed ; and are healthy. I do not allow people to come on my farm and do any test or do I give a hatch ratio on eggs ,,, they hatch for me. I will try my best to make sure your eggs are no older than 3 days old . They will be sent USPS and will be packed good but understand shipping is rough on eggs and I will not be responsible if they get broke.
The Ameraucana breed was derived from blue egg laying chickens, but they do not have the breeding problems inherent to Araucanas. In addition, rather than ear tufts, they have muffs and a beard, and are very hardy and sweet. They lay eggs in shades of blue, and even have blue (or "slate") legs. Less rare than Araucanas, they are still quite rare and only available through breeders at this time. They should not be confused with Easter Eggers, which can lay blue and green eggs, and do not conform to any breed standard. However, many hatcheries continue to call their Easter Eggers "Americanas" (and other various misspellings).
